The Ghanaian government is envisaged to vaccinate all adults in the country to achieve herd immunity to overcome the threat of Covid-19.

President Nana Akufo-Addo said that in the shortest possible time, approximately 20 million Ghanaian adults have become the target of vaccination.

Ghana has gotten about 1.27 million doses of the covid-19 vaccine as of 12th August 2021, says the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

Overall, as of August 12, 2021, the number of Covid-19 cases in the country reached 109,736.

President Nana Akufo-Addo delivered a speech at the lawn cutting ceremony held in Trede, Atwima-Kwanwoma District, Ashanti District. In order to officially launch the "111 Agenda", the hospital project recommends that people abide by existing safety regulations to minimize the spread of the epidemic.

After the third wave of Covid-19, everyone should do this, and the emergence of new Delta variants has exacerbated this situation.

According to the president, mandatory nasal masks, social distancing, regular hand washing, and hand sanitizer should be observed.

The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that in order to safely achieve herd immunity against Covid-19, a large part of the population needs to be vaccinated.

This is the key to reducing the total amount of viruses that can be spread throughout the population to ensure that vulnerable groups who cannot be vaccinated are safe and protected from disease.

President Nana Akufo-Addo said that as part of its efforts to respond to the pandemic, the government has expanded treatment centers nationwide to ensure a rapid response to emerging cases.

In the "111 Agenda", he affirmed his government's determination to build state-of-the-art facilities at the district level to help expand the base of healthcare services.

He said that the fundamental factor is to build and equip as many hospitals as possible to advance Ghana's agenda as a "West Africa subregional center of excellence in healthcare."

It is estimated that a total of 111 hospitals will be built across the country, each at a cost of about 16.88 million U.S. dollars, and it is planned to be implemented by a team of local contractors within 18 months.

The facilities provided include; Outpatient Department (OPD), Obstetrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Accident and Emergency Department, Andrology, Women's Department, Pediatrics and Isolation Department.

The rest are; ophthalmology, dentistry, physical therapy, and imaging, as well as surgery and consulting.

It also provided funds for supporting facilities such as kitchens, laundry rooms, disinfection, and energy centers, and plans to build morgues and staff dormitories for doctors, nurses, and other health workers.
