Charlotte Osei, the former chairman of the Election Commission (EC), revealed that she did not exercise her privileges in the 2020 general election.
According to her, she did not care about the election process, nor did she bother to vote and monitor the results.
In an interview with Joy News, she said that she and his children spent three days campaigning on the beach.
"[December 7, 8, and 9, 2020], I was at the beach with my children relaxing, I did not cast votes, I did not superintend the election, Why would I do that?
"I didn't get paid to monitor the election. So can't I go to the beach with the kids?"
Charlotte Osei was fired
Charlotte Osei and two deputies—Amadu Sulley and Georgina Opoku Amankwah—resigned on the recommendation of a committee set up by the Chief Justice.
Allegations of fraud and malfeasance were filed against them, and then the Chief Justice filed a case against them with conclusive evidence.
In accordance with Article 146, paragraph 4 of the Constitution, the Commission considers misconduct and incompetence as grounds for dismissal.
The committee concluded that several contracts awarded by Charlotte Osei during the three-year period in charge of affairs prior to the 2016 election blatantly violated procurement laws.
